Happy fall!

I’m delighted to have more good magazine news to report this month. Highlights High Five accepted a poem! It’s called Bandages!

My piece Time for Sleep is in the October Bedtime issue of Highlights Hello. It’s my first published piece for the magazine. The beautiful illustrations were created by Anne Passchier.

Hop to It: Poems to Get You Moving made it into the final round of the Kids’ Book Choice Awards. You can vote by clicking here. Thanks for voting! You can purchase Hop to It by clicking here. You can learn more about Pomelo Books and their awesome poetry anthologies by clicking here.

Fall Writing Frenzy contest is almost here! It’s hosted by Kaitlyn Sanchez and Lydia Lukidis. All the details are here on Lydia’s website. It’s always a lot of fun to read everyone’s entries. I’m looking forward to it.

We read some wonderful picture books in the last month. Here are a few of our favorites.

I read these delightful books to my students when I taught second grade, so it was a treat to share them with my children.
My daughter loves PORCUPINE’S PIE, so I knew she’d love this story, too, and she does!
So relatable and cute!
The conflict between pirate and prince is compelling. My little ones asked for multiple rereadings.
Delightful!

In family news, my son had a milestone this month. He lost his first two teeth. And the tooth fairy came! I decided to write the dates of lost teeth on the inside cover of this book as a keepsake. The cute little tooth pillow is from Target.

How’s your fall going so far? Thanks for reading!

And congrats to Miles on his teeth milestone! I love the idea of writing the dates down in a tooth fairy book. I might have to steal that idea! 😉
