My writing group, Critique Sisters, and I are getting into the giving spirit by doing a week of giveaways. Each day, you can visit a new blog for a chance to win a book or #kidlit prize. The giveaway will close on Sunday evening 12/6, and winners will be announced on Monday, December 7th. Think of The 7 Days of HoliYAY! as a fun, blog-hopping experience full of holiday cheer!
I LOVE holiday books, and my children and I have a huge collection. The book I’m giving away is new as a board book this year. My children are three and four, so board books are a BIG part of our lives. There’s something so cozy about Christmas board books in little hands. This year I decided to do 25 Days of Christmas books with my little ones. Santa and the Goodnight Train was our book for December first. It was the perfect pick to kick off the Christmas season.

Santa and the Goodnight Train is written by June Sobel and illustrated by Laura Huliska-Beith. It’s perfect for train fans (and I haven’t met a preschooler who is not a train fan!) The story is written in a bouncy but lulling rhythm that makes it an ideal bedtime book. The adorable illustrations are delightful! My children loved pointing out the darling details, like the gingerbread trees and sleeping sheep. Refrains like “Ring-a-ling! Ring-a-ling! Whooo! Whoo!” make this book a wonderful read-aloud.
This book is a companion to The Goodnight Train and The Goodnight Train Rolls On. If you’re like me, you can’t resist a cute kid lit series. I also can’t resist a shiny, new holiday board book.
